On 3rd February, a special team of Karaoke entertainers, Karaoke Crazy hosted their first Karaoke Night at IK Bar, an Indian-themed restaurant based in Mississauga. Guests ranging from eighteen to fifty crowded the venue. All turned up at the venue due to their common love for music. What began as a series of English songs soon turned into a Bollywood Night with patrons singing numbers from popular Hindi commercial films, some Punjabi numbers, some south Indian tracks, and some popular Spanish numbers too. The icing on the cake was when the guests wished for the party to go on till 2 am. This was great feedback for their first-ever show in Canada.

Behind the scene

The Karaoke Crazy team went about promoting the event through their social media account on Instagram page, @KaraokeCrazy. Personal invitations were also sent to multiple groups to spread awareness. The invite as seen above was a video invite aesthetically made with details of the night supported by a popular Hindi song, ‘khoya khoya chaand’. In addition, there were regular walk-ins who turned up for a musical experience on a Saturday night. The time to promote the event was roughly one week making it a good enough time for people to make plans. Also, the selection of the date being Saturday, a weekend helped attract more people to the venue.

The Karaoke Crazy team came along with four mics and a sound bank to meet all requests from the audience. However, through the night the lists of requests kept going on. Owing to the phenomenal turnout at the restaurant, the staff couldn’t meet all song requests. The event started at 9 pm, guests started walking in from 8:30 pm onwards. The Karaoke began at 10 pm. And by 11:30 pm, the restaurant was houseful. Some guests didn’t have chairs to sit on. But they were alright with that.

Let’s talk about audience’s reaction

Reviews were almost immediate. For instance, many complimented the venue staff and the Karaoke team for hosting such a memorable night. The Karaoke Crazy team is content with their first show and wishes to host many such gigs across Mississauga. Pleased with the positive response and learnings from the event, the team wishes to explore more such venues in the future. ‘We see great potential in Mississauga, there’s a demand for Karaoke, and the response for Hindi songs as well as English songs were the same.’ said a spokesperson from the Karaoke Crazy team.

Also, another interesting point of observation and learning the team came across is diversity. The audience is quite diversified, there are people of various ethnicities who would love to sing songs that are well-known in their home countries. Because there’s immense scope in tapping into diverse groups. Ever since the first night, influencers and page reviewers have connected with the team on social media. There’s a possibility of hosting an Arabic Karaoke Night too.

A bright future for Karaoke Crazy!

The plan going forward is to make a database of audiences interested in Karaoke and stepping out for events. Noting down their names and other details such as their birthdays, their home countries, etc. with their due consent. One thing that has helped the team attract an audience is their brand name, Karaoke Crazy. By being simple and straightforward, they convey what service the team offers. With the growing needs of the diverse market, the team is ready to explore possibilities of going beyond Bollywood and English numbers. And tap into Spanish, African, Arabic speaking audiences and many more.
